We did an early morning walk (time difference caused missing extra points! Note to self: send bug report to Ommetje!). Breakfast with fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereals, and toast with scrambled eggs (orange!) and salmon. Tea, coffee, and locally produced apple juice (cox and bramley). J. helped the landlady to fix a problem with her old phone, and then we drove off for a trip to Cranbrook and Goudhurst. Nice little villages to walk around, very old graveyards, visit to an antiques store (we did not find the bargain of the day…), and a nice coffee shop / restaurant.

After returning to the B&B, we rested in the garden, saw Spitfires(!) fly overhead, showing off by doing a barrel roll, and prepared for The Party at the Hop Farm. The venue is a 20 minute drive from the cottage. It is currently in use as a family park with a camping and attractions, and a wedding venue. In older days it were Oast House. Until the 1960’s, this was the place where the hops were dried before they were further processed. More information about the history of hop acreage, can be found on the website of British Hop Association.
