It ain’t summer without a Beach Day!

The weather expectations are good, and thus today is Beach Day! Today’s breakfast menu today is special, with sausages, fried eggs and toast, all to help celebrate J.’s birthday.
We drive off to Rye again, but this time, no sightseeing or shopping, but straight to the Camber Sands beach. This is the only sand beach in Sussex, with a single row of sand dunes. Since we are early, and schools’ Summer Break has not yet started, it is easy to find a parking spot. The beach is lovely, tide is rising. We collect shells, search for special pebbles, sit in the sand, walk along the shore, try the water, and it is all good! Even enjoyed lunch on the beach!

In the afternoon, we drive to Hastings, where we will have dinner in the Thai Restaurant Jasmine. A. will join us there also. Hastings is an old city, famous for the Battle of Hastings, the Pier, and pebble beaches. Since the weather is so good, and there’s reason to be happy, we have a cocktail at the Pier and stroll around the boulevard.

G. challenged the waitress for a “very spicy” dish, which in the end did not turn out to be that spicy. But all and all we had a delicious dinner. After dinner we said our goodbye’s to A., found our car again in the underground car park, and returned to Kingshoath. Back at the cottage we have a birthday beverage, and watched Jerry “Show me the money” Macguire on DVD.
