Home again

We are back home! The return flight uneventful, except for a little delay when leaving from London. The plane from Toronto to London was half empty! And what we had never seen before, is that somewhere over the Atlantic ocean, we were passing a plane from Virgin Airlines! What a nice surprise that AM’s parents …

Sigh…

That’s it… The holidays are over. Today, after another delicious breakfast from Geoffrey, will be our final day in Canada – for this trip anyway. We are packing our final things and are walking over to Eaton Centre for the last few gifts for the home front. Then slowly but surely off to the airport, …

Back to Canada

Our visit to the Adirondacks ends up with rain and more rain……After another very nice breakfast we say goodbye to Doug and Maggie and return to Canada. It is May 29th, and just after noon we arrive at H.’s apartment where we will stay during our visit to Ottawa. It is nice to see her …

Ticonderoga

Unfortunately, today, May 28th, it is still raining……and so after breakfast we travel towards Ticonderoga, to visit the fort on the small strip of land between  Lake Champlain and Lake George. From 1754 -1764, French and British troops have fought here, claiming the ‘new land’, with or without the help of Indian tribes. The fort …

Adirondack

It’s raining, just as predicted, when we walk over to Maggie for an extensive breakfast (fresh fruit, juice, tea/coffee, scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon). After breakfast we drive towards Blue Mountain Lake to visit the Adirondack Museum. The collection of boats, coaches, a train and tools is impressive. We enjoy the exhibition, and visit the …

Aunt Polly’s

On May 26th, 7:14 a.m., we leave Binghamton and start our trip to the Adirondacks. The weather is nice and sunny, not too hot, and it is still quiet on the road. We stop in Lake George to visit the factory outlet of famous brands (everything on sale!). We continue our trip to Aunt Polly’s …

Binghamton, NY

Well, Binghamton… What is in Binghamton, people kept asking us during the weekend. That should have set off alarm bells for us… We had no clue, except that there is a Zoo, and that we will stay here as a stop in between Pittsburgh and Newcomb… But everybody was right… There is absolutely nothing, nada, …

Picknick

Another gorgeous day! We are staying in Huddleson Court, in the Harvest cabin. A cozy and little home. On ‘the day after’ everybody is allowed to relax and enjoy the weather. However, the children have other things on their mind. Once the bucket is ‘loaded’, they chase eachother with super-soakers. Some prefer volleybal, others prefer …

The Wedding Day

Today is D&G-day! After a lovely breakfast with the family (Mmmm… Spinach and Vegetarian Casserole, made by June and Ronda), we load up all the cars, and after triple checking that all has been packed, we drive to Green Gables, Jennerstown. The weather is perfect: blue skies, and fluffy clouds, just as Galen had ordered. …
