AM From Lahinch we continue our trip today in the direction of Loophead. It is cloudy, yet dry, and a bit windy. We follow the coast and the cliffs, some of them even more impressive than at Moher, perhaps they are not yes discovered? We hike near Kilkee and picknick in the grass enjoying the views. The Scenic Drive brings us to Loophead. Unfortunately, it starts to rain, and as a result, the temperature drops quickly.
Vandaag vervolgen we onze trip van Lahinch in de richting van Loophead. Het is bewolkt, maar droog, als we vertrekken langs de kustweg. De kliffen zijn hier soms nog adembenemender en indrukwekkender dan bij Moher, maar het lijkt of ze nog niet zijn ontdekt? We wandelen bij Kilkee en picknicken in het gras terwijl we genieten van het spectaculaire uitzicht. Dan weer door langs de Scenic Drive, die naar Loophead leidt. Helaas begint het te regenen en zakt de temperatuur ook meteen naar beneden de 16 graden…

In Kilbaha, we have coffee by Keating’s, the last pub for New York. We planned to drive to the lighthouse on Loophead, but since it’s raining cats and dogs, we postpone this trip, and drive to Anvil Farm Guesthouse, where we are warmly welcomed by our host Maura Keating, with tea, and homemade pie! Apart from the B&B she runs a farm with her husband, and they are proud horse owners. With her juicy Irish accent, Maura asks us ‘if wel love harses?’ Of course we do! Walls in the B&B are covered with pictures of price winners! After checking in in our room, we have dinner in Keating’s, very relaxing atmosphere.
In Kilbaha drinken we koffie bij Keating’s, de laatste kroeg voor New York. We waren van plan om nog even door te rijden naar de vuurtoren van Loophead, waar het spectaculair fotograferen schijnt te zijn, maar de regen komt met bakken naar beneden, dus rijden we eerst naar Anvil Farm Guesthouse, waar we allerhartelijkst worden ontvangen door Maura Keating, met tea en zelf gebakken taart. Naast de B&B heeft zij met haar man een bedrijf, en een voorliefde voor paarden. De hele B&B hangt dan ook vol met foto’s van prijswinnende modellen. Met haar sappig Iers accent vraagt Maura of wij ook van paarden houden. Nadat we zijn ingecheckt in onze kamer, gaan we eten bij Keating’s in een gezellige ontspannen sfeer.
