AM Zaterdag staat in het teken van feest. En dat begint met een Full English Breakfast, dat onder leiding van de Britse vriendin wordt gemaakt. Roerei, spek, worstjes, bonen, hash browns (rösti-achtig gerecht), toast met boter, tomaatjes en paddestoelen! Smullen maar!
Saturday is party day. It starts with a Full English Breakfast, prepared with instructions of our British friend. Scrambled eggs, sausages, baked beans, bacon, hash browns, buttered toast, roast tomatoes and mushrooms. Yummie!
Het weer is een beetje wisselvallig. In de middag, als de regen wat ophoudt, gaan we met de Britse vrienden wandelen we naar Stow, waar in de zomer de ferry naar Bemus Point vertrekt. Onderweg horen we diverse vogels die we met de Merlin app proberen te herkennen (leuke app!). We horen de American Robin, Red Winged Blackbird, Song Sparrow. We zien Mississippi Kites cirkelen, die een nest hebben gebouwd boven op een elektriciteitspaal. Daarna nog een ritje naar The Chautauqua Institution en Bemus Point.
The weather is changeable, but in the afternoon it becomes better, and we go for a walk with our British Friends in the direction of Stow, where during Summer months the ferry leaves for Bemus Point. We hear birds singing and try to determine them with the Merlin app (very nice!) – the American Robin, Red winged Blackbird, and Song Sparrow. We see Mississippi Kites circle around their nest, built upon an electricity pole. To finish the afternoon we make a little trip to The Chautauqua Institution and Bemus Point.
Zaterdagavond: party time. Op het menu: steak and shrimps van de oven/grill met baked potatoes en salade. Daarna tijd om de jarige job te trakteren op een toepasselijk lied, feestelijke verhalen en natuurlijk: taarten!
