Mrs. Marple’s Room

After a nice flight, with a short stop-over on London Heathrow Terminal 5, we have arrived in Toronto! Collected the car and then went searching for 242 Gerrard Str in Cabbagetown, where Geoffrey Pimblett is running a very special B&B. We are welcomed by Berty, the dog (“she loves the ladies”) and showed around the premises, which are loaded from floor to ceiling with books, art, and everything else you can think of. It is like we’re in the middle of the television program ‘Flog it’. Berty and Geoffrey bring us to our room on the 2^nd floor, Miss Marple’s, which has, of course, a few bookcases with the complete works of Agatha Christie. We follow Geoffrey’s advice and have dinner in ‘The House on Parliament’ (“excellent food & inexpensive”). And that’s exactly how it was.

Na een vlotte reis, met een korte stop op London Heathrow Terminal 5, zijn we gistermiddag aangekomen in Toronto, en gaan we met de huurauto richting Gerrard street 242 in Cabbagetown.

Geoffrey Pimblett, Engelsman in hart en nieren (“on Monday we’re having a little party for Queen’s birthday”) heet ons, samen met hond Berty (“she loves the ladies”) welkom en geeft een tour door de B&B. We kijken onze ogen uit, het hele huis is van vloer tot plafond propvol snuisterijen, schilderijen en boeken. Kunst en Kitsch zou hier wel een uitzending kunnen maken. We slapen op de 1e etage in Miss Marple’s Room: een boekenkast gevuld met Agatha Christie’s en bloemetjesbehang in de badkamer. Op advies van Geoffrey gaan we eten in The House on Parliament (“excellent food & inexpensive”). En zo is het.
