AM Sunday July 20th, start of a new adventure! We wake up early and are picked up by W’s parents who are so kind to bring us to Schiphol. After a quick drop-off of the luggage, we have coffee and pass the customs. We travel from gate D18 to London Heathrow, where we are again enjoy the custom’s experience (shoes off this time!) and leave from gate A10 with a Boeing 747-400.
Zondag 20 juli 2008, om 6:15 loopt de wekker af, en na een ontbijtje worden we om 7:40 opgehaald door de ouders van W. die ons naar Schiphol brengen. Drop off van de bagage gaat lekker vlot, we drinken samen koffie en gaan dan door de douane. Om 10:25 boarden bij gate D18. Twintig minuten rondhobbelen (richting polderbaan) voor we opstijgen. In London op Heathrow in de nieuwe terminal weer door de douane (en nu ook schoenen uit!). Dan eten we een sandwich en gaan weer boarden, gate A10 Boeing 747-400.
After a smooth, though long flight (9 hours) we land in Vancouver, where our family is welcoming us with two cars at the airport. First stop is Douglas House, where we have rented a small apartment for the upcoming days. After taking a quick shower and running some errands at the Safeway, we have dinner with the whole crew in the WhiteSpot, the favourite place or our cousin/niece. After dinner A & J travel back to Bowen Island, and we go to bed and fall asleep round 8:30 p.m……
Rustige vlucht (9 uur) en in Vancouver staat de familie op ons te wachten. Iedereen blij! Met twee auto’s gaan we naar Douglas House (West 13th, 456). We hebben een appartement in de annex (slaapkamer met keuken en slaapkamer) op nr 464. We doen wat inkopen in de nabijgelegen Safeway, en gaan dan met zijn allen eten in de WhiteSpot, het favoriete restaurant van ons jonge nichtje. Daarna gaan A & J richting ferry en wij naar ons appartementje, waar we om ongeveer 20:30 in slaap vallen…..
