Op het ‘platteland’ van Australië is weinig lichtvervuiling, en dus is hier een ideale plaats voor astronomen. Een van de beroemde spots is het Paul Wild Observatory in Narrabri, op een uurtje rijden vanaf de Pilliga. De Australia Telescope Compact Array heeft hier zes immense telescopen op rails staan, wat een indrukwekkend gezicht is.
After a picnic lunch near the telescopes, we travel towards the Sandstone Caves, for a short hike. The caves show ancient Aboriginal Rock Art.
Na een picnic lunch bij de telescopen (waar de wallabies liggen te zonnen op de rails of tegen de hekken), reizen we richting de Sandstone Caves voor een korte wandeling. De grotten tonen oude Aboriginal steen kunst, wat ook weer mooie foto’s oplevert.
